WHAT IS BAPTISM?
The baptism is the first important event in the life of the newborn as established in the Catholic religion. In this celebration, the baby is initiated into Christianity. This symbolic initiation consists of a ritual in which water is used to seal the adoption of Catholicism. The traditional way was to immerse the baptized in water completely, but nowadays it is often used to spill water on the head of the newborn or simply to splash the water in case the spill is not considered appropriate.
