At Artview Studios, we love to relive those special moments in your life and those of your friends, but we also love that you are informed about everything that has to do with the event that you want to organize, in this section we have to inform about weddings , specifically about one of the most significant elements of it, such as wedding rings. Here's an article that tells you about those details of these wedding elements that you may not know: A wedding ring is a ring used as a symbol in the celebration of a wedding. It represents the commitment between the contracting parties.
It is also called the alliance. Generally, in the rings of the pair, the names are recorded. For example: the ring of one bears the name of the other, or the names of the two with the commemorative date.
These rings are traditionally gold and to a lesser extent platinum or silver. They are usually smooth and comfortable to wear because most people are always wearing them.
History…
This ceremony was already observed by the Romans before the introduction of Christianity and was also known to the Jews. The use of the rings was widespread among the Romans, not for mere adornment, but for the purpose of sealing the letters, instruments, and other elements, for in them each one opened his seal, and they were used to give to each other in the celebration of their contracts instead of pledges and arras, because it was something they always had in hand.
In fact, according to Clemente Alexandrino, it was customary to give the ring to the woman not for adornment but to seal the things of the house, non ornatus gratia, sed uí obsignaret qua domi erant, since it was practice to secure with the seal the coffers, drawers and other utensils in which the provision of groceries was preserved in the pantries to avoid all subtraction and loss by the slaves. So, the ring was a sign of the promise of marriage and with its delivery and receipt the husband was assured to the wife, joining with this garment their hearts.
Habit...
The custom establishes that the couple must give each other rings as a symbol of marriage alliance, placing them in the wedding ceremony. The wedding ring is placed on the ring finger of the left hand. Different traditions make use of one or the other hand, varying this use according to the zones. However, it is simply a custom (like the previous delivery of the Engagement Ring), which although traditional, is not essential in the celebration of marriage: since its absence does not invalidate the consent given at the ceremony and , therefore, the marriage celebrated without the exchange of rings would be perfectly valid.
